Raglan Castle Cafe sits just a short stroll from the imposing walls of Raglan Castle, making it a natural pit stop for visitors exploring the historic site. This modest café caters mostly to walkers and day-trippers looking to recharge with a straightforward but satisfying menu. Expect a casual, almost village-hall-like atmosphere inside, with a handful of tables that fill up steadily during peak tourist hours.

The coffee here, especially the cappuccino, draws locals and tourists alike who appreciate a well-made cup without pretension. There’s also a reliable selection of simple snacks — charcuterie and toasted sandwiches seem to be popular choices — with accommodations for dietary needs like gluten intolerance. Outdoor seating provides a quiet spot to enjoy views of the surrounding countryside, offering a more relaxed alternative when the weather allows. Because the café is dog-friendly, it’s a convenient stop for walkers with canine companions.

Service tends to be friendly and personable, although visitors should be prepared for occasional waits during busy periods, likely due to the small kitchen and steady flow of guests. Prices remain reasonable, fitting the no-frills vibe of a spot that feels more about a quick, pleasant break than a leisurely brunch. The blend of local charm and proximity to one of Monmouthshire’s notable landmarks means this café suits those who want a welcoming, laid-back spot to pause and refuel around midday.

11/10/25: This is the second time to visit the cafe in a year and it is thoroughly recommended including extremely pleasant staff and service. The cafe is a short walk from Raglan Castell and well worth a visit with a fairly standard range of savoury and dessert items on the menu. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The interior of the cafe offers a half dozen or so tables but there are three exterior seating areas and all with pleasant views or surroundings. It is an ideal place to visit after investigating the castle.

Peaceful, stunning view from the outdoor seating. Food was delicious, they accommodate for gluten free (if intolerant). I had the tuna and cheese toastie on gf bread and it was AMAZING! Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the castle. Decent pricing too, not too expensive. Also dog friendly!

Average selection you’d expect of somewhere like this, but took quite a while. Seemed to be a decent number of staff but had to wait a good while just for a sandwich and some toasted tea cakes. Very friendly staff though

Visited today due to the cost proximity to raglan castle. Not the cheapest place but the food was really nice and definitely service with a smile!
